Topaz is a symbol of love and affection. It is a clear, bright gemstone and can be found in a variety of colours including blue, yellow, green, orange, pink and brown. Dug out of sand and gravel, blue topaz is found in Colorado, Nigeria and Russia. Ancient Greeks believed it had the power to increase strength and was also said to change colour in the presence of poisoned food or drink.
